MySpace opens it doors

we have been waiting long time for this step.
After announcing a few month ago that MySpace will implement google's OpenSocial API, MySpace just announced its new API services.
We are glad to hear that, and of course WidgetLabs will keep an eye on this and offer the best service for our partners.

This step will not only help MySpace to be even more attractive for users but it will also bring even more dynamics into the widget space.

LabLoop a proffessional SlideShow

Hi All,

we were developing a SlideShow for Imageloop fullfilling the needs of proffessional users. The result was a widget named LabLoop. Just take look at it. nearly no loss in quality of the images, the neutral colors and the fullscreen option make the widget perfectly suitable for sharing high quality images.

I hope you like it.

WidgetSummit 2007 San Fran!

Last week WidgetLabs attended the WidgetSummit conference in San Fran. It was a great conference with the top players of the widget market.

One of the trends in the conference seemed to be running widgets on mobile phones. Nokia for example is making great effort with its platform S60 to run widgets on its devices, the drawback is, that these widgets "only" run on Nokia phones. Apple and its iPhone also have their ambitions on their platform.

Another major topic were widget metrics. There is still no common understanding about what is needed and what has to be measured, although I think in the next month this issue will be clear for anybody.

There was also a nice session about widget monetization, and I was surprised, that there are still no clear ideas about how to monetize widgets. I am sure this will be a hot topic for the future.

Overall it was a successful conference, and I am looking forward for the widgetsummit 2008

Imageloop SlideShows now available on Facebook

Last week we launched a new Facebook Application called “Imageloop SlideShows”. It integrates the functionality of imageloop with Facebook. So any user can easily create an imageloop slideshow for his or her profile within Facebook. It is also possible to create slideshows from images users already have on Facebook.

The App was developed in a PHP/adobe Flash/JavaScript combination, where we used the imageloop API, the partner tool of imageloop, the F8 Platform and the support of the imageloop team ;).

Have fun using this app.

Imageloop Guestbook developed by WIDGETLABS

yesterday Imageloop launched a new widget called Guestbook. The widget was developed in cooperation between imageloop and WIDGETLABS. The guestbook can be implemented on nearly any page n the web (blogs, MySpace ….) . Users visiting these pages can leave a comment in the widget. No, that’s not all users can also upload their own image beside a textual message and associate it to a location on a Geo-Map offered by Yahoo. Below the Widget. Feel free to add a comment.

Technically spoken, the widget mashes up two different open APIs (imageloop API and Yahoo Maps API). It is also not a one directional widget, thus only displaying data but it is an interactive one. It really gives the user the chance to do some important tasks.

At this point I want to thank the imageloop team for the successful team work and of course I would like to thank the WIDGETLABS developers who sacrificed their weekends for this project.
